Photo Challenge of The Week: Ball is Round

Artificial Motion

Does your image look real? Why or why not? My first blurred image does not look real because there is a disproportional amount of horizontal blur while the car itself appears perfectly clear. For the second image, the blur is far more realistic because it is much less pronounced and could actually be viable if the car was moving. What was difficult about this process? Nothing was particularly difficult about this exercise, although I did have to redo the erasing blur on the car a few times to make sure it appeared clear in the right locations.

Shorebreak Questions

What did Clark do before photography?     He worked at the Wahiawa Botanical Garden in Hawaii, and was also a frequent surfer. What do you like about his work?     I enjoy the nature of his work, namely that he displays photos that normally wouldn't be accessible to people. Personally, I've always been intrigued by big wave photography, so seeing his work was illuminating. What do you not like about his work?     Because he mostly takes variations of the same general shot, his photos can get a little repetitive to look at.  What brand of camera does he use and how does he take it into the water?     He uses a Nikon4DS in Aqua Housing, which enables him to control all of the settings in the camera whilst also keeping it safe. This housing is also compatible with Nikon cameras. Is this a career that you would consider, why/why not?     Although it is a fascinating line of work, it is not one that I would seriously consider...

One good thing about this photo is the timing, because I'm in a prime pose to attack Jay with the facial expression to complement my intentions. One thing that could be improved is perhaps the positioning, because if Jay and I were closer in the same pose it would convey more urgency. One good thing about this photo is how synchronized Jay and I are in our starfish pose. One thing that could be improved was the camera framing, since my hands and the top of my head are out of frame. One good thing about this photo are the facial expressions of myself and Jay, which seems to tell a story. One thing that could be improved is once again the framing, since Jay is slightly out of frame and my legs are also cut out even before the crop.
