Water Photo Project

Station 1: Photograph a Water Droplet with Flash

F-Stop: F/5.6, Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec

1.Was it easy to get a good shot? Why/why not? (2pts)

Because the shutter speed was capped, it was rather difficult to acquire a good shot, because the timing now mattered more.

 2. What did you like/not like about shooting water with the flash? (2pts)

I liked the light exposure we got on the photo, but didn't like the difficulty of getting a good shot with the capped shutter speed.

Station 2: Photograph a Colored Water Droplet without Flash using colored paper reflection

F-Stop: F/5.6, Shutter Speed: 1/320 sec

1. Was it easy to get a good shot? Why/why not? (2pts)

Since this was the first station we did, there was a bit of a learning curve getting the hang of taking shots.

 2. What did you like/not like about shooting water without the flash? (2 pts)

I liked how the purple and pink colored papers created cool reflections on the water.

Station 3: Shoot colored water drops with Flash

F-Stop: F/4.5, Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec

1. Was it easy to get a good shot? Why/why not? (2pts)

It was incredibly difficult to take a good shot. We needed to call on you to try and adjust the settings so the camera would render higher quality photos, which took a good amount of time to figure out.

 2. What did you like/not like about shooting colored water with the flash? (2pts)

I liked how whole and strong the rings looked, but I didn't like how it was almost impossible to get the water droplet in the shot.

Station 4: Shoot colored water clouds with the burst mode

F-Stop: F/5.3, Shutter Speed: 1/1000sec

1. Was it easy to get a good shot? Why/why not? (2pts)

It was relatively easy to get a good shot, because once the ink droplets were put in, we could just spam a bunch of photos as the system evolved, and choose out of many the few that looked best.

 2. What creative adjustments did your team make for this shot? (2pts)

We used more than one color, and used colors that compliment each other to optimize aesthetics.

 3. What did you like/not like about shooting water without the flash? (2 pts)

I liked that we were able to take rapid-fire photos and each was different from the last because the food coloring had moved. I didn't particularly like emptying and filling up the fish tank after each take.
